Dr. Mathew Thomas is a North American-trained global mental health practitioner whose work is grounded in a deep understanding of the unconscious influences of trauma and their impact on present experiences. From early life experiences to international clinical practice, his journey into psychotherapy has been shaped by a lifelong search for meaning, resilience, and authentic human connection. Have been with a few therapists and even a psychologist before, but often felt like I wasnt being fully understood and constantly had to provide lots of context to feel validated or risk feeling judged. I belived therapy to be all about talking and getting your frustrations out and never saw value in it beyond what my insurance covered. Fast forward to today, ive been working with Dr.Matt for around 3 years.
My original goal was to simply work on improving myself and thought procratination or laziness was my problem; but Dr. Matt was able to uncover so many facets of myself, including my ADHD and helped me see how so many deep rooted experiences have shaped me and is helping me manage it better.

You sit in the waiting room- nervous, dreading the toughness of questions you expect. He comes in wearing a disarming smile, a reassuring tone, and you chat, for an hour. Feels like you are talking to yourself while strolling in a park. You feel safe, grounded, comforted, and you wonder why everyone is scared of asking for help.
The next session is a week away, but most of the work happens when he is not around; when you ponder over the questions he left you with. Homework, he calls it, but it doesn't feel like a chore. This begins with Theoretical Understanding, where we explore why you think, feel, and respond the way you do, creating clarity around the patterns shaping your experiences. It continues with the Reflective Process, where you are supported in exploring your inner world, your emotions, relationships, and lived experiences in a safe and non-judgmental way. Alongside this, we focus on Intervention, applying practical strategies to help regulate your system, shift patterns, and create sustainable change. This ensures therapy is not random or passive, but structured, purposeful, and effective.
Therapy is a journey, and I will work with you at a pace that feels both safe and clinically meaningful. It is natural to have concerns; you may wonder if talking will help, feel unsure what to say, or worry about being judged, but you do not need to have everything figured out. My role is to listen without judgment, help you make sense of your experiences, and guide you toward emotional regulation and clarity.
